Reading & study
Save the passages that matter, add your own notes and tags, then search, export or share them from the Notes page.
Bookmarked sentences are lightly shaded and keep their ● even when the sentence buttons are hidden. Choose ● to read or edit your note.
Select words and choose ✎ Add note, or tap ○, and a note panel opens right beside the passage. Type, choose 🎤 Voice note and say it, or choose ✎ Handwrite and write it by hand. Notes save automatically. Where a sentence has published study notes, choose Make it mine to copy one into your note and build on it.
Open Notes from the main menu. Each bookmark shows its quote, book and chapter. Under any bookmark you can:
Search across quotes, notes, books and chapters. The export buttons use whatever is currently filtered:
Plain text for notes apps and writing tools.
A document ready for an essay plan or revision sheet.
Print your quotes, or save them as a PDF.
Clear out a batch at once. Check your filters first.
Share a bookmark to get a link with a preview of the passage. Use Copy link, Open shared page, or Stop sharing to withdraw it.
Filter to the bookmarks you want, then choose Create Shared Set (Filtered). Give it a title and description. Anyone with the link can view and import the set. Manage your sets on the Shared page.
Post a bookmark or a shared set to a Classroom class. Teachers can also assign sets through Classes.
The Published Annotations tab on the Notes page lets you browse published annotations by book and source.
Bookmarks and notes are saved on this device first. When you're signed in, they sync with your account automatically: each change is sent in the background, other devices' changes arrive when you open the app, and changes made offline are sent once you're back online. If the same note was edited on two devices, the most recent edit is kept.
The Notes page also has manual options for special cases:

Your reading position syncs automatically when you're signed in, which powers Continue reading on the home page.
A bookmark saves a place, and your note is your own thought about it. Study notes are published annotation sets attached to the text. A sentence can have any combination.
