Annotations are study notes linked to specific passages in a text. Austi Classics Pro can display notes from Austi Classics and from other available annotation sets.
An annotation is a note attached to a particular passage, sentence, line, verse or other location in a text.
Annotations can explain difficult language, provide historical or literary context, identify references, or offer other information that helps you understand the text.
When an annotation is available for a passage, an annotation marker appears with the text.
Select the marker to open the annotation. If more than one selected annotation set contains a note for the same passage, you can view the available notes together.
Annotations are organised into annotation sets. A set is a collection of notes from a particular edition, editor, source or contributor.
Some texts include annotations prepared or published by Austi Classics. In the text, these are indicated by the icon.
Some works also include notes from historical editions that are in the public domain. In the text, these are indicated by the icon.
Where supported, you can upload your own annotations for use with Austi Classics Pro. In the text, there are indicated by the icon.
Use the annotation settings in the reader to choose which annotation sets are active.
You can enable several sets at the same time, or reduce the number of visible notes by selecting only the sources you want to use.
If a passage has notes from several selected sources, Austi Classics Pro may display more than one annotation for that location.
Different editors and editions often explain a passage in different ways. Viewing more than one annotation set can be useful when you want to compare interpretations or study a difficult passage in more depth.
For simpler reading, you may prefer to keep only one or two sets enabled.
Annotations provide information about a passage. Bookmarks simply save a location so you can return to it later.
A passage can have annotations, a bookmark, or both.
Austi Classics Pro can also support annotation sets prepared outside the app and uploaded for use with supported texts.
